The Portuguese Surf Film Festival has always had the unconditional support of the Municipality, in a way that has been remarkable in the success of this event that brings the best of today's surf cinema from around the globe. As co-producers, they have been part of this team, working intensively behind the scenes, to provide the best experience to visitors. Os membros do Juri irão avaliar todos os filmes e decidir os vencedores para cada uma das categorias, nomeadamente Film of the Year, Best Short, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Women in Surf Films, Best Sustainability, Impactful Story , Audience Award, Best Ericeira.

Miguel Pedreira
PRESIDENTE DO JURI - PRESIDENT OF THE JURY
A carreira de Engenheiro Civil ficou para trás durante o segundo ano do curso, assim que percebeu que a sua relação com o mar e o surf era o que realmente o fazia vibrar. Soube, nesse momento, que o seu futuro passaria pelo jornalismo e por explicar o surf às pessoas. E assim é, há 30 anos. Depois de comprar uma câmara subaquática aos 20 anos, iniciou a sua versão de reportagem, dentro de água, a documentar as ondas, os surfistas e a interação íntima entre ambos. Daí até dar os primeiros passos na rádio foi um ápice. Passou pela Rede A, Super FM e Rádio Energia. Daqui à reportagens televisivas do Portugal Radical, na SIC e a coordenação da Portugal Radical Rádio. Passou pelo MarMarMar, o primeiro site nacional exclusivamente dedicado ao surf. Depois a imprensa escrita, tendo passado pelo cargo de editor da revista Surf Portugal e de director das revistas Magnólia e Slang. Volta à televisão como editor e repórter do magazine semanal Zona Radical, para a Sport TV. Em paralelo, inicia os comentários das primeiras transmissões na íntegra das etapas do circuito mundial de surf no canal Fuel TV e programa Action Sport Plus. Foi sócio da empresa de comunicação Puro Feeling, focada na divulgação de eventos de surf. Hoje, mantém as funções de comentador na Sport TV e no Fuel TV e é um defensor do surf enquanto motor da economia e impulsionador de uma vida melhor para quem ama o mar.
His career as a Civil Engineer lagged behind during the second year of his course, once he realized that his relationship with the sea and surfing was what really made him vibrating. He knew, at that moment, that his future would come through journalism and by explaining surfing to everyone. This was 30 years ago. After buying an underwater camera at the age of 20, he began his version of reporting, in the water, documenting the waves, the surfers and the intimate interaction between them. From there, even taking his first steps on the radio was a short step. He went through Rede A, Super FM and Radio Energy. From here to the TV reports of Portugal Radical, in SIC TV Network and the coordination of Portugal Radical Radio. He went through MarMarMar, the first national website exclusively dedicated to surfing. Then the written press, as an editor of Surf Portugal magazine and director of Magnólia and Slang magazines. He returns to television as editor and reporter of the weekly magazine Zona Radical, at Sport TV. At the same time, he begins to comment on the first broadcasts of the stages of the world surf circuit on the Fuel TV channel and Action Sport Plus daily show. He was a partner of the communication agency Puro Feeling, focused on surfing events. Today, he maintains his role as a commentator on Sport TV and Fuel TV and is an advocate of surfing as an engine of economy and a driver of a better life for all lovers of the sea.
Trey Highton
Trey Highton é consultor de comunicação da Surfrider Foundation e antigo diretor do Save The Waves Film Festival. Está a fazer um doutoramento na Universidade da Califórnia em Santa Cruz, com foco no surf e globalização e no potencial do surf para agir como um motor de mudanças ambientais e sócio-culturais impactantes. Tem vindo a perseguir ondas desde há vinte anos, tendo recentemente mudado para a costa leste dos EUA para criar os seus dois filhos, Coco e Hank, com a sua mulher Erin.
Trey Highton is a communications consultant for the Surfrider Foundation and the former Save The Waves Film Festival Director. He is also a PhD candidate at the University of California Santa Cruz where his studies focus on surfing and globalization, and the potential of surfing to act as a driver of impactful environmental and socio-cultural change. After chasing waves for the past twenty years, Trey recently settled back on the east coast of the US to raise his two kids, Coco and Hank, with his wife Erin.
Alena Ehrenbold
Nasci em Lucerna, Suíça. Após o liceu, completei um Mestrado em Economia e um Diploma em Ensino na Universidade de Zurique. Durante 6 anos leccionei direito e economia na faculdade na Suíça, antes de deixar o meu emprego fixo para seguir a minha paixão. Agora viajo pelo mundo como free surfer. Outra grande paixão tornou-se escrever guiões de filmes e produzir e dirigir filmes de surf: I Wanna Surf (2014 / 1 prémio internacional) Blue Road (2017 / 5 prémios internacionais),TAN (2018 / 9 prémios internacionais) e Come With Me (2018). E 2019 fundamos o "Swiss Surf Film Festival" SSFF que irá celebrar a sua segunda edição em 2020. Actualmente sou Vice Campeã Suíça de Pranchas Curtas e Longboard e tenho a honra de representar a Suíça desde há mais de 10 anos na Selecção Nacional Suíça de Surf. Portugal é um lugar tão bom, estou realmente muito contente por voltar a fazer parte do Portuguese Surf Film Festival - Obrigada!
I was born in Lucerne, Switzerland. After high school I completed a Masters Degree in Economics and a Diploma in Teaching at the University of Zürich. For 6 years I have been teaching law and economics at college in Switzerland before I quit my fix job to follow my passion. Now I travel the world as a free surfer. Another big passion became writing film scripts and producing and directing surf films: I Wanna Surf (2014 / 1 international award) Blue Road (2017 / 5 international awards),TAN (2018 / 9 international awards) and Come With Me (2018). And 2019 we founded the Swiss Surf Film Festival“ SSFF that will celebrate it's second edition 2020. I'm currently Vice Swiss Shortboard and Longboard Champion and I have the honor to represent Switzerland since more than 10 years on the Swiss National Surfing Team. Portugal is such a great place, I'm really happy to be again part of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival - Obrigada!
João Macedo
João filho de pais Portugueses nasceu dia 1 de Junho de 1977 em New Haven, Connecticut. Começou a surfar com bodyboard aos sete anos, na Praia Grande - Sintra. Encontrou na dureza daquele mar Atlântico o que viria a ser a sua maior paixão de vida. Esta paixão tornou-se inevitavelmente numa carreira toda ela ligada ao mar: é o primeiro surfista profissional Português e Europeu a qualificar-se para correr o Mundial de Ondas Grandes de remada (World Surf League) terminando no Top 5 na época de 2012/2013; acabou o curso superior em Economia em 2000 e fundou nesse ano a Surf Academia (www.surfacademia.com) na Praia Grande e em Carcavelos; foi cofundador e gerente de projeto na Califórnia do Movimento de Reservas Mundiais de Surf (www.worldsurfingreserves.org). É reconhecido pelos seus contributos para que o prestigiante surf de ondas grandes na remada ganhasse o seu lugar permanente na Praia do Norte.
João, son of Portuguese parents, was born in June 1, 1977, in New Haven, Connecticut. He began his surfing adventure by bodyboard at age seven in Praia Grande, Sintra. Back then, he found his lifetime passion in Atlantic Ocean roughness. This passion inevitably became a career connected to the sea: he was the first Portuguese, and European, professional surfer to qualify to paddle in the WSL Big Wave Tour, wich he finished in the Top 5 back in 2012/2013 season. He graduated in Economy in the year 2000, and in the same year he founded "Surf Academy" (www.surfacademia.com) in Praia Grande and Carcavelos; In California, he was the co-founder and project manager of the World Surfing Reserves (www.worldsurfingreserves.org). João de Macedo is also known for paddling the giant waves of North Beach.

Susana Andrade
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Ganhou em 2011, juntamente com uma equipa holandesa muito talentosa, o prémio de Melhor Curta no British Surf Film Festival, depois de terem estreado a o seu filme no New York Surf Film Festival, tendo como protagonista a surfista Portuguesa Joana Rocha. Esta vitória surge na altura em que a Ericeira se torna World Surfing Reserve e parecia que se juntavam os ingredientes para que esta nativa da região com um espírito muito empreendedor agarrasse a oportunidade. Assim nascia o Portuguese Surf Film Festival. Hoje a Susana divide o seu tempo entre Portugal e a Suiça, onde trabalha sobretudo em produção, edição de video e media training. Foi lá que lançou em 2019 o “What If - Women in Film Festival”. Fun fact: começou a fazer rádio aos 15 anos.
In 2011, together with a very talented Dutch team, she won the Best Short Film Award at the British Surf Film Festival, after having had their film premiered at the New York Surf Film Festival, with Portuguese surfer Joana Rocha as the protagonist. This victory came at a time when Ericeira became World Surfing Reserve and it seemed that the ingredients were being added so that this native of the region with a very entrepreneurial spirit would seize the opportunity. Thus was born the Portuguese Surf Film Festival. Today Susana divides her time between Portugal and Switzerland, where she works in video production and as a media trainer. This is where, in 2019, she launched "What If - Women in Film Festival". Fun fact: she started working in radio at the age of 15.
Fernanda Zandavalli
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Fernanda Zandavalli é licenciada em Jornalismo, com talento para planeamento e produção executiva. Sediada na grande Lisboa, tem também atuado por toda Europa em projetos internacionais. Com uma vasta experiência no sector dos meios de comunicação social, a Fernanda tornou-se conhecida como uma profissional dedicada e altamente capaz. É uma experiente produtora de eventos, desde eventos corporativos a eventos desportivos e mediáticos. Para além disso, Fernanda é produtora do Portuguese Surf Film Festival, cargo que ocupa desde 2020.
Tem um dom natural para a comunicação, para direção operacional e logística e uma atenção cirúrgica aos detalhes. A Fernanda é também reconhecida pela sua positividade, empatia e capacidade de trabalhar em equipa. É também é co-fundadora e produtora executiva da Zucalli Media, uma empresa de produção audiovisual sediada na Ericeira, Portugal.
Fernanda Zandavalli has a degree in Journalism and a talent for planning and executive production. She is based in greater Lisbon and also works throughout Europe on international projects. With extensive experience in the media sector, Fernanda has become known as a dedicated and highly capable professional. She is an experienced event producer, from corporate events to sports and media events. In addition, Fernanda is the producer of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival, a position she has held since 2020.
She has a natural gift for communication, operational and logistical direction and a surgical attention to detail. Fernanda is also recognized for her positivity, empathy and ability to work as part of a team. She is also the co-founder and executive producer of Zucalli Media, an audiovisual production company based in Ericeira, Portugal.
Elisabete Ornelas
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Uma designer gráfica de Portugal, com mais de uma década de experiência como Director de Arte / Designer Gráfico. Com foco em branding, tipografia, design impresso e ilustração mista: combinando técnicas analógicas e digitais. Juntamente com a sua família, mudou-se de Lisboa para a Ericeira aos 18 anos de idade e apaixonou-se por este lugar. Como empresária, lançou uma marca chamada O REI MANDA® (segundo Simon) e em 2019 criou a LEVA®, uma marca de presentes que fazem lembrar as viagens à Ericeira e para levar alguns presentes fixes para casa. A Elisabete adora socializar, estar perto das pessoas e ter uma boa conversa. A sua paixão é dançar longboard. Nas suas palavras: "Gosto de pegar no meu skate, sentir o vento na cara e ouvir a minha música enquanto vou com a corrente..."
A graphic designer from Portugal, with over a decade of experience as an Art Director/ Graphic Designer. With focus on branding, typography, print design ('cause print isn't dead) and really passionate about mixed up illustration: combining analog and digital techniques. Alongside her parents, she moved from Lisbon to Ericeira at 18 year old and she fell in love with this place. As an entrepreneur, she launched a brand called O REI MANDA® (simon says) and in 2019 created LEVA®, a gift brand offering all you need to remember your trip to Ericeira and make sure you have some cool gifts to take home with you. Elisabete love socializing, being around people and having a good conversation. Her passion is longboard dancing. In her words: “I enjoy grabbing my skate, feel the wind on my face and listening to my music while I go with the flow...”
Henrique Escopelli
MEDIA DIRECTOR
O Henrique é co-fundador da Zucalli Media, uma produtora audiovisual, e desde 2020 que faz parte da equipa do Portuguese Surf Film Festival. Com um olhar único para conteúdos que produzem resultados efectivos, o Henrique tem vindo a criar um estilo próprio e já reconhecível, que o festival tem celebrado nas suas redes sociais.
Com uma experiência profissional que vai além fronteiras, o Henrique tem marcado o seu cunho artístico junto de projetos com clientes internacionais através da sua produtora audiovisual. A sua lente transporta-nos para o lado emotivo das interações humanas, com retratos fiéis de encontros em ambientes de enorme entusiasmo, já que ele tem uma capacidade inata de capturar a essência das pessoas, nos momentos de maior espontaneidade.
Henrique is the co-founder of Zucalli Media, an audiovisual production company, and has been part of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival team since 2020. With a unique eye for content that produces real results, Henrique has created his own recognizable style, which the festival has celebrated on its social networks.
With professional experience that goes beyond borders, Henrique has made his artistic mark on projects with international clients through his audiovisual production company. His lens takes us to the emotional side of human interactions, with faithful portraits of encounters in environments of enormous enthusiasm, as he has an innate ability to capture the essence of people in the moments of greatest spontaneity.
Bibiana Rigoli
INTERNATIONAL ART CURATOR
A Bibiana, desde cedo, desenvolveu uma conexão profunda com a arte e a natureza. Uma viajante ávida, pode orgulhar-se de ter já pisado todos os 5 continentes, o que permitiu que desenvolvesse a sua visão holística e compreensão da interconexão entre as culturas e os ambientes naturais.
É licenciada em Marketing e desde há uma década com trabalho e ênfase no surf e curadoria de interiores. Tem ampla experiência em eventos e um talento natural para encontrar soluções a todos os desafios que a sua atividade profissional sugere. A Bibiana traz consigo uma perspectiva única e uma abordagem genuinamente inspiradora para a vida. E na edição de 2024 do Portuguese Surf Film Festival integra a equipa pela primeira vez como curadora de arte.
From an early age, Bibiana developed a deep connection with art and nature. An avid traveler, she can boast of having set foot on all five continents, which has allowed her to develop her holistic vision and understanding of the interconnection between cultures and natural environments.
She has a degree in Marketing and has been working and focusing on surfing and curating interiors for a decade. She has extensive experience in events and a natural talent for finding solutions to all the challenges that her professional activity suggests. Bibiana brings a unique perspective and a genuinely inspiring approach to life. And in the 2024 edition of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival she joins the team for the first time as an art curator.
Cristina Garção
COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
A Cristina é a nova adição na equipa, como Communications Manager. Traz uma experiência acumulada de vários anos ao serviço do rigor e elegância na expressão da palavra. Com uma tenacidade muito acima da média, a Cristina procura sempre dar aquele detalhe que faz toda a diferença, quando o objetivo é comunicar com transparência e clareza. É Licenciada em Jornalismo pela Universidade Lusófona.
Cristina is the new addition to the team, as Communications Manager. She brings an accumulated experience of several years at the service of language accuracy, style and elegance. With a tenacity far above average, Cristina always tries to give that detail that makes all the difference when the objective is to communicate with transparency and clarity. She has a degree in Journalism at Lusofona University.
